My Background

My name is Sharlee Anucinski, and I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new ELA teacher for Room 7! I am looking forward to getting to know all of you as I join Brookfield Academy to continue the successful guidance of your children through the fourth and fifth grade! I would love to take this time to share a little about myself and my teaching philosophy.

I grew up in Rockwood, Michigan, where I thrived in the small town like three generations of strong Polish women before me. Attending Old Dominion University for my bachelor’s degree, I majored in English with a concentration in literature; as well as I received my teaching certification and master’s degree from The University of Michigan in educational studies. Additionally, I received a publishing certificate through the Columbia Publishing Course offered by Columbia University. I am a single mother to my three-year-old son, who will also be joining me here at Brookfield Academy (yay!), and a first-generation college graduate determined to demonstrate that joy and success can be obtained simultaneously.

My years of experience working with children, inside and outside of the classroom, have helped influence and mold my teaching philosophy: to create and facilitate a classroom culture that encourages and implements students’ happiness, positive self-talk, sense of security, respectful mannerisms, academic growth, comradery, and student autonomy. I strive to create a space for my students where they can flourish personally and academically, and I believe that begins with building trust and a sense of community. With that being said, I encourage you to continue to play an active role in your children’s education, and to please feel free to contact me via email at sanucinski@brookfieldacademy.net with any questions, concerns, or just to say hi!
