Ms. Nancy is a passionate and dedicated 4th and 5th grade lead teacher at Brookfield Academy, having joined the school in 2023. With a deep commitment to fostering a love of learning in her students, Ms. Nancy brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the classroom. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education, an Elementary Teaching Certificate, and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education, all from Oakland University. Her academic background provides a strong foundation in both early childhood and elementary education, allowing her to adapt her teaching to meet the unique needs of her students. Ms. Nancy has a diverse teaching background, with 3 years of experience teaching Montessori education. She received specialized Montessori training, which has shaped her understanding of individualized, hands-on learning and the importance of creating a nurturing and supportive environment. Her Montessori experience has allowed her to incorporate student-centered teaching methods that encourage independence, critical thinking, and self-direction in her classroom. Before becoming a lead teacher, Ms. Nancy started her teaching career as a preschool teacher, where she gained valuable insights into early childhood development and the importance of laying a strong academic foundation. She then spent many years working as a reading intervention specialist, where she taught kindergarten through 5th grade students who needed additional support in developing their literacy skills. This experience has made Ms. Nancy particularly adept at identifying and addressing the unique learning needs of each student, ensuring that they receive the support they need to succeed academically. In her spare time, Ms. Nancy enjoys a variety of activities that allow her to relax and recharge. She is an avid reader, finding joy in exploring new books and stories that enrich her understanding of the world. She also enjoys walking, taking time to connect with nature and clear her mind. Spending quality time with her family is important to Ms. Nancy, and she cherishes the moments she shares with them. Additionally, she enjoys vacationing with her husband, taking the opportunity to travel and experience new places, cultures, and adventures. Ms. Nancy’s diverse experience, academic background, and dedication to her students make her a valuable asset to Brookfield Academy. She continues to inspire her students by creating a positive and supportive learning environment where they can thrive both academically and personally.
