Ms. Tina is the Lead Teacher in the Pre-Primary classroom at Brookfield Academy, a role she has embraced with passion and dedication. This is her seventh year at Brookfield Academy, where she continues to build on her extensive experience in early childhood education. With a wealth of experience as a lead preschool teacher, Ms. Tina has developed a deep understanding of the developmental needs of young children and is committed to fostering a nurturing, engaging learning environment where every child can thrive.
Ms. Tina earned her Bachelor’s degree in Counseling Psychology from North Park University in Chicago, IL. Her academic background in psychology provides her with valuable insights into child development, behavior, and emotional well-being, which she applies in her daily interactions with students. This knowledge allows her to approach each child’s learning process with empathy and an individualized perspective, ensuring that their emotional and cognitive needs are met.
In March of 2019, Ms. Tina furthered her expertise by obtaining her Montessori certification from the Northern American Montessori Center. This certification has enhanced her ability to implement the Montessori method in her classroom, allowing her to create a structured, yet flexible learning environment where children can explore, discover, and grow at their own pace. Ms. Tina is particularly passionate about the Montessori philosophy because it empowers children to take ownership of their learning, helping them to become independent, confident, and self-motivated.
What drives Ms. Tina most in her teaching is her love for seeing the "AHA moments" in her students—the moments when a child grasps a concept or makes a breakthrough in their learning. She takes great pride in understanding each child’s unique needs, strengths, and learning style. By carefully observing her students, she tailors her approach to ensure that every child is provided with the tools and support necessary to reach their full potential.
Outside the classroom, Ms. Tina enjoys spending her free time traveling and exploring new places. Traveling allows her to broaden her horizons and learn from diverse cultures, which in turn enriches her teaching style. She also cherishes time with her family, particularly her nephew, with whom she shares a special bond. Whether she’s enjoying family gatherings or seeking new adventures, Ms. Tina finds joy in creating lasting memories with her loved ones, which fuels her passion for teaching and nurturing the next generation of learners.
